Your Help is Needed to Restore Funding for State Administration
March 06, 2005
Letters Needed by Close of Business Tuesday, March 8
WHAT : One part of our strategy to garner support for the restoration of state administration in H.R. 366 is to ensure that every Republican member on the House Education and Workforce Committee receives contact from his/her constituency expressing support for the amendment Congresswoman Woolsey will introduce to restore state administration from 2% to 5%.
TIMING : The full committee mark up of H.R. 366 will take place on Wednesday, March 9, so time is of the essence . Your letters must be faxed by close of business on Tuesday, March 8.
IMPORTANCE : We only need a few positive votes from the Republicans to have the amendment adopted. During the debate, Congresswoman Woolsey would like to highlight that the constituency represented by the Republican members of the House Education and Workforce Committee supports the adoption of this amendment. Why focus on the Republicans? We know the Democrats are committed to supporting this amendment. If you have the time, a letter reminding the Democrats of your support would also be appropriate now, however every Republican except Congressman Tom Osborne voted against this amendment last time. Our advocacy needs to be mighty and it needs to be targeted.
ACTION NEEDED : Please note there are TWO action steps.
(1) Please draft a letter to the Congressperson in your state reminding him/her of your support of the Woolsey amendment. Below is a list of all the Republican members on the committee. For contact information, click on the member's name below
