Dear Colleague Letter Supporting Perkins Funding

CONTACT YOUR SENATORS TODAY!

April 22, 2005 - In a strong, bipartisan show of support for Perkins, Senators Burns (R-MT), Collins (R-ME), Durbin (D-IL) and Clinton (D-NY) have sponsored a “Dear Colleague” letter urging their fellow Senators to preserve funding for Perkins. A Dear Colleague letter is a vehicle used to gather the signatures of members of Congress who support a particular position, bill or issue. In this instance, these four Senators are seeking other senators to sign on to a letter to be sent to the Senate Labor, HHS and Education Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman Arlen Specter (R-PA) and ranking member Tom Harkin (D-IA). This letter (which is attached) notes the value of career technical education and specifically asks that Perkins be funded by no less than the FYO5 appropriation of $1.326 billion.
