10:30 AM—4:00 PM Presentations on unique Connecticut CTE programs
Attendees will be split into two groups (A & B) and notified of their assigned group ahead of time in their registration packets. Each group will participate in two activities, alternately: a guided Aqua-adventure aboard a “Project O” (oceanography) research vessel, and a panel (in the UConn Marine Science Building) featuring aqua-culture –related presentations by scientists, teachers and students.

Each of the two panels (morning and afternoon) will be comprised of different topics; those not wishing to go out on the water may attend both panels. All attendees should be prepared with proper attire that includes casual clothing, closed footwear, a light jacket and raingear. Remember to bring meds if you are subject to sea sickness.

Lunch will be provided at at UConn, Avery Point.
4:00 PM—4:15 PM Board buses and return to Mystic Marriott to get ready for dinner.

Technical assessments - they are on the minds of everyone in CTE. Not only is Perkins driving this interest, but technical assessments are an important part of a continuous improvement process and assuring student competency.

We have invited measurement experts from the Burros Institute to conduct an interactive session to build your knowledge base about assessments. This session will have something for everyone - those who know nothing about assessment as well as those who already have assessment systems in place!

Also included in this session will be a discussion on the national item bank effort.

Deputy Director Donna Pearson will join us to share updates from the National Center, as well as highlights from national research.
11:00 AM—12:00 PM What is ahead for CTE?

The policy world has been ablaze with action related to CTE. This session will update you on latest legislative action, as well as share some forecasts of what we can expect in the coming months and year.
12:00 PM—3:00 PM Connecticut has also arranged for a post-meeting behind the scenes tour of the MGM Grand casino. Limit is 25 people. If you wish to attend, we will need you to contact our office at 202-737-0303. We will need your social security number. You will be required to provide your own transportation.
